items for sale 'n stuff

Starting with it's kick off event this past Decemeber, I now have various works on display and for purchase at the Re:View Contemporary Design Store, including chairs, tables, cork items and these new CNC lights which compliment my previous work with CNC cut plywood.  The owner and curator Simone DeSousa has a fantastic eye, and has put together a wonderful semi-permanent collection of various artists and designers. Stop by and take a look in person...perhaps at the opening of the next show, Adam Shirley's "False Flat". I can't wait to check it out myself

I will also be having an informal open house/open door shop time event at my studio in the Russell Industrial Center February 6th from 6-9 to coincide with the openings of two small galleries on my floor, Detroit Industrial Projects and the Org Gallery. If you are up that way saturday night, stop on by.

a little news in january

OK, i haven't kept my word on updating images on here, consider it a New Year's resolution. The news I have right now however is that one of my pieces was juried into the CCS Alumni Show juried by the one and only Syd Mead which opens January 22nd. Should be pretty cool, and it makes me happy that on some level the venerable designer considers my work in high regard.

upcoming!

Friday december 4th and saturday december 5th I will be involved with two separate events with Re:view Contemporary here in Detroit. Friday's event Re:Design will be a temporary exhibit at TechTown, just north of Wayne State University, and Saturday's event Re:Collect is an end of the year group exhibition at the gallery proper which coincides with Midtown Detroit's popular Noel Night event. I will have work in both events, hope to see you there!

shaking off the lazyness

I am trying to get myself back in the studio after what kind of turned out to be a summer "off". I also still need to get a lot of work up on the site here, but with cold weather approaching, my out of doors activites should give way to indoor activites like working in the studio and on this site.

Coming up next weekend, I will have a light in the "Actual Size Biennial" put on by the Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit (CAID), check out the opening reception on November 7th, from 6-11 at both the CAID and Lady Bug Galleries

studio open house in october and updates

I will be participating in the studio open house event at the Russell Industrial Center as part of the larger Art Detroit Now event. Feel free to stop by and see some of my and building-mates work in person between 7-midnight (I may open up even earlier in the day if others on my floor are planning on it, we'll see)

Also, I am a semi-finalist in the One Good Chair competition held this upcoming week at the Las Vegas Market and Expo with my breakplane chair. Unfortunately I was unable to be there in person, but the chair is!

Lastly, I still have a lot of work to be added to the website, my attention has been divided lately between moving and helping out with a fantastic local event, the annual Tour-de-Troit bicycle ride! Come fall, I will be back to working on this in earnest and getting back in the studio.
